The flu and other things in the mail....

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been sick with the flu and I just started feeling a bit better last night. I'm still recuperating and unable to workout as intense as I'd like them to be. Not a good feeling... Ugh...

Anyway, a couple of things came in the mail while I was sick which brightened up my day.

#1 Leather Panel Leggings by Audrey Cantwell

From her etsy store : "These leggings are made of black cotton blend jersey with a lambskin leather panel on the front legs that starts mid-thigh and goes down to the hem. Jersey waistband with elastic."

I love these leggings for two reasons: They are very comfortable to wear and if worn with boots, it gives the illusion of wearing over the knee boots because of the leather paneling. Audrey Cantwell's designs are awesome and very wearable. Check out her store: BlackMarketBaby.

I don't have a full length mirror in my house and the hubby is at work so this is the best photo I could take of them. Note to self: Need to replace my broken tripod AND buy a full length mirror from Crate and Barrel soon.

#2 Shu Uemura's Tsumori Chisato Limited Edition Rouge Unlimited Jupiter Brown

I  LOVE  Shu Uemura and their latest offering from designer Tsumori Chisato is just pure love.  This rouge unlimited lipstick in Jupiter Brown is perfect for the holidays - sheer and sparkly. I think it would look great with a soft smokey eye. I can't wait to wear this out to a party! The packaging is so cute too (and I'm not even a cat-lover!).

#3 Makeup Forever HD Concealer c/o Fashion Xenophile

BIG THANK YOU to Rachel of Fashion Xenophile for this! I won this concealer via her blog. It's the first time I've ever won anything thru a blog. This got me all excited! Haha! I still have to wear this correctly out (haven't done that since I've been sick and home). I did however try it for a bit when I received it and it felt/looked awesome. Very easy to use and seemed to conceal my eyebags. I still have to test it out for a longer period of time to see if it creases, fades, etc. but so far, so good:) Thanks again, Rachel! Check out her fashion adventures on her blog: http://litlstrawberry.blogspot.com/.

Aside from random stuff in the mail, I was able to FINALLY get two pairs of my Louboutins resoled with Vibrams. Hooray! Thanks to my fellow Louboutin lover, L, I was introduced to a local cobbler who can actually do it. Here is a pair of CLs of mine which needed to be resoled badly but now have Vibrams on them. YAY! Two pairs down and so many more pairs to go!!!! Ah... getting all my Louboutins resoled will make me poor....

Doc Martens x Chanel x Rick Owens x Alexander Wang

I rediscovered an old love of mine when I visited my parents a week or so ago: Dr. Martens. Tucked away in my walk-in closet in my old room was a pair of 8-hole Docs which my dad bought for me when I was in sixth grade - that was a very long time ago. Dr. Martens were quite rare in the Philippines during those years but I remember seeing them on SPIN or some music magazine when I was a kid and fell in love with them. My dad, being so awesome, traced my foot on some paper and sent it to one of his friends here in the US and told him to look for some high cut black Dr. Martens because his daughter loved them so much. It took a month or so before it arrived in Manila but I still remember the exact time and place when my dad gave them to me. It was when he and my mum picked me up after school and I was in the backseat of the car. We were infront of the now stock exchange building in Ortigas - close to my school - when he told me he had a "surprise" for me. My mum then pulled out these divine black boots that weighed a ton. My jaw dropped and I was in heaven! I knew that moment that my "outfit" for my first "gig" would be complete. I was in a "band" or so I thought back in the day with my best friend from school. Ahh... those days when I always dreamed of being some rockstar.... hahahaha! We thought we would be the next Guns N' Roses but made up of only two chubby private Catholic school girls... Yeah right...:)

I kept those Doc Martens with me ever since and used them religiously until high school and a bit through college - before I put them to rest because I started getting too fascinated with Adidas Superstars. I have these weird shoe phases... which is so much more "economical" compared to my "phase" right now. Funny thing about these Docs is that they still fit me. I guess I stopped growing (height and shoe-wise) when I was in 6th grade. So I found them the other week and decided to take them with me and wear them out the other weekend. They still felt awesome and I knew they would be perfect for the crazy winter to come. This also triggered me to go online and order a new pair after hmm... more than 15 years? This time I knew I had to choose something even better - the 20 hole DMs! The only thing that disappointed me about them was that they were no longer made in England:(... Oh well... I'm still keeping my original ones since they were the original ORIGINAL made in England DMs and most especially because it reminds me of my dad <3

Presenting my new Dr. Martens in Black Illusion:

I took them out yesterday to break them in. They were so comfortable and fun to wear. My clients loved them too! (I was swamped with client meetings the entire day).  I also met up with my fellow Loubounista, Lisa (who was breaking in her super awesome Christian Louboutin Feticha Red Boots!).

On L: Martin Margiela trench coat, J Brand black jeans, Christian Louboutin Feticha red boots, and Prada Nylon Gauffre in black. On me: Again my SS08 Rick Owens jacket, Alexander Wang grey t-shirt, Splendid black leggings, Dr. Martens Black Illusion 20 eyelet boots, and my 09 Chanel GST in Dove Grey.

By the way, CRUISE 2009/2010 CHANEL RTW & Accessories just hit the stores, what will you be getting? Hope you got on that waitlist especially for the cobalt and the reds that I've heard have been flying off the shelves!

Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation and Shu Uemura Eye Light Pencil White

The holidays are around the corner; thus, the need for me to buy some foundation because of all the photo ops at the upcoming events, family gatherings, obligatory parties, etc. I don't really wear foundation unless I really need to. Most days I just wear tinted moisturizer and SPF and some days I don't wear a trace of make up at all. When I do wear foundation, I always have had one go-to brand over the years - Shu Uemura. Much as I love Chanel, YSL, and Laura Mercier, Shu Uemura has been my NUMBER ONE LOVE. Ever since I was introduced to the line back when I lived in Manila, I've been a Shu devotee. No matter what country/continent I travel to - may it be across Europe or the United States, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, etc.  - I always try and find the local Shu Uemura atelier and get something to add to my collection.

Unfortunately (and fortunately for my wallet), I don't have a local boutique BUT recently, I found a small counter of Shu Uemura at a local Nordstrom! I rarely go shopping at Nordies but since they started carrying Shu, I now have to take a trip to Nordies to try and buy these goodies.

Last night, the hubby, our Coco, and I went to the not so nearby dog-friendly mall to buy her some treats and the hubby a new pair of Creative Recreation. I, on the other hand, raided the Shu Uemura counter as I needed (not just "wanted") a new foundation as my Velvet Perfecting Powder Foundation from Shu Uemura was running out (and getting old). Given that my skin has "aged" and "dried-out" because of the stupid weather in my state, I know I needed to go with a new formula. I've been reading about the recently released Nobara Cream Stick which has been getting astounding reviews from professional make-up artists. So knowing my shade (I have two which I play around with), I asked the lady at the counter to match me. My guess was a 764 but then I was matched as a 564 which is lighter. It perfectly blended in my skin though so I had no qualms. The coverage was perfect and it didn't feel like I had make-up at all. I had to get it!

I played around swatching the different eye shadows they had but I had to control myself from buying any since I think I might have most of it already or at least something close to the colors that I was attracted to. I did however end up buying the Eye Light Pencil White since I want to brighten up and make my eyes look bigger (because I feel they aren't big enough). It's also a new thing for me since I'm all about black eyeliner. A change here and there is nice to mix things up a bit! I really love this pencil as it has two ends - one matte (for the waterline) and a pearl finish (perfect for highlighting the inner eye). I can't wait to wear this out and try mixing it with some different eyeshadows/looks.

I also tried out the new Tsumori Chisato Limited Edition Rouge Unlimited Jupiter Brown. I loved how it looked and felt. I didn't go home with it BUT I ended up ordering it this morning from Shu Uemura's online shop and took advantage of the free shipping with any order of any product from the 2009 Holiday Collection Limited Edition (ends 11/04).

*Sorry for not posting any FOTDs because I'm currently growing out my eyebrows to get it reshaped and don't feel too comfortable taking a photo of my face.

Miss you so much, Papa....

November 1st. Exactly 3 am. I lost my dear papa.....

...I still haven't gotten over the pain of him dying. I still can remember so clearly how he died while I was holding him in my arms.

I'll never forget that Halloween....

I miss you, Papa.... I miss you so much. More than words can ever describe.

I will NEVER forget every moment we spent together while you were alive.
Thank you for everything. You are the best father a daughter can ever have.

I love you always and forever.
