Doc Martens x Chanel x Rick Owens x Alexander Wang

I rediscovered an old love of mine when I visited my parents a week or so ago: Dr. Martens. Tucked away in my walk-in closet in my old room was a pair of 8-hole Docs which my dad bought for me when I was in sixth grade - that was a very long time ago. Dr. Martens were quite rare in the Philippines during those years but I remember seeing them on SPIN or some music magazine when I was a kid and fell in love with them. My dad, being so awesome, traced my foot on some paper and sent it to one of his friends here in the US and told him to look for some high cut black Dr. Martens because his daughter loved them so much. It took a month or so before it arrived in Manila but I still remember the exact time and place when my dad gave them to me. It was when he and my mum picked me up after school and I was in the backseat of the car. We were infront of the now stock exchange building in Ortigas - close to my school - when he told me he had a "surprise" for me. My mum then pulled out these divine black boots that weighed a ton. My jaw dropped and I was in heaven! I knew that moment that my "outfit" for my first "gig" would be complete. I was in a "band" or so I thought back in the day with my best friend from school. Ahh... those days when I always dreamed of being some rockstar.... hahahaha! We thought we would be the next Guns N' Roses but made up of only two chubby private Catholic school girls... Yeah right...:)

I kept those Doc Martens with me ever since and used them religiously until high school and a bit through college - before I put them to rest because I started getting too fascinated with Adidas Superstars. I have these weird shoe phases... which is so much more "economical" compared to my "phase" right now. Funny thing about these Docs is that they still fit me. I guess I stopped growing (height and shoe-wise) when I was in 6th grade. So I found them the other week and decided to take them with me and wear them out the other weekend. They still felt awesome and I knew they would be perfect for the crazy winter to come. This also triggered me to go online and order a new pair after hmm... more than 15 years? This time I knew I had to choose something even better - the 20 hole DMs! The only thing that disappointed me about them was that they were no longer made in England:(... Oh well... I'm still keeping my original ones since they were the original ORIGINAL made in England DMs and most especially because it reminds me of my dad <3

Presenting my new Dr. Martens in Black Illusion:

I took them out yesterday to break them in. They were so comfortable and fun to wear. My clients loved them too! (I was swamped with client meetings the entire day).  I also met up with my fellow Loubounista, Lisa (who was breaking in her super awesome Christian Louboutin Feticha Red Boots!).

On L: Martin Margiela trench coat, J Brand black jeans, Christian Louboutin Feticha red boots, and Prada Nylon Gauffre in black. On me: Again my SS08 Rick Owens jacket, Alexander Wang grey t-shirt, Splendid black leggings, Dr. Martens Black Illusion 20 eyelet boots, and my 09 Chanel GST in Dove Grey.

By the way, CRUISE 2009/2010 CHANEL RTW & Accessories just hit the stores, what will you be getting? Hope you got on that waitlist especially for the cobalt and the reds that I've heard have been flying off the shelves!

Never own a pair of Doc Martens, instead I was wearing NewRock. Actually I was planning to bring my old pair of black boots during next visit home [They way to heavy to mail].

I love Doc Martens shoes because Doc Martens Boots provides style that doesn’t hurt your feet, but supports them
